Nationally Recognised TrainingThis 55 week program includes 2 courses, the Diploma of Graphic Design and Certificate IV in Design.

The Graphic Design Diploma Program is focused on the design skills which enable graduates to move into a job in the graphic design industry.

  • Commence the program without a pre-existing portfolio
  • Students develop a portfolio in the Diploma to present at job interviews or to use for credit in a degree 
  • Learn to use the Adobe Creative suite: Photoshop; InDesign; Illustrator; Dreamweaver; Flash; Acrobat
  • Develop specialist skills in advertising and multimedia
  • Become confident in using Macintosh computers: the industry standard for graphic designers
  • All students get access to the latest design tutorials on Lynda.com
  • Transfer to a degree with up to 1 year credit transfer

Degree Transfer

Successful completion of the Diploma of Graphic Design offers the following credit transfer options:

  • 1 year credit transfer to Raffles College of Design and Commerce Bachelor of Design.
  • 1 semester credit transfer to Griffith University Bachelor of Communication

Industry and jobs

Graphic Design studios and graphic designers create and produce a broad range of visual projects. These include web pages, multimedia presentations, annual reports, sales materials, signs and other environmental graphics, slide shows, newsletters, corporate identity programs, packaging, consumer products, promotional items, and many other types of publications.

In essence, graphic designers organise and develop a 'look' for almost any kind of project. Places of employment include advertising agencies, design studios, publishing houses, pre-press companies and consumer goods companies. Many designers choose to establish their own business and work in a freelance capacity.  Possible job titles relevant to the Diploma of Graphic Design include: Graphic Designer, Display Artist, Web Designer and Illustrator.

Professional Recognition

Students and graduates of Martin College Graphic Design studies, are eligible to apply for membership of the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) - Australia's largest association representing graphic design professionals. There are graphic design online courses available aside from on-campus courses.

Awards

Graduates of the Martin College Diploma of Graphic Design receive two nationally accredited awards: CUV50311 Diploma of Graphic Design; CUV40311 Certificate IV in Design.
