Dig It Graphic Design Showcase
Congratulations to our Sydney campus Events and Graphic Design students!

The Dig It Graphic Design Showcase was held at the Burdekin Hotel’s Viper Room, an event which attracted over 100 attendees including locally-based industry professionals.
$400 was also raised for Cancer Council NSW through a raffle; first prize was a hamper worth $1,000, second prize a hamper worth $650 and third prize a hamper worth $400.
On display at the "Mad Men" themed event were a variety of student artworks displayed on their laptops and in their portfolios. Entertainment was provided by Kerrin Oakes from the Australian Institute of Music and Joel on guitar, two DJ's and two special industry speakers - Ram Castillo, a Martin College Sydney campus graduate and Xavier Lombardi, Art Director of Sinnot Bros Creative and councillor of the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA). Ram, who studied the Diploma of Graphic Design, spoke about his career and about his experience in the graphic design industry. He also offered some valuable advice for those learning design with his ‘Top 10 tips for design students’. Xavier, from AGDA, spoke about entering the Graphic Design world and the work of AGDA in the industry.
The event was organised by Martin College’s own Events students as part of their subject assessment. All received excellent feedback from attendees, fellow students, and teachers.
The success of the exhibition is testament to their hard work and commitment of their teacher Deborah Lemberg. Their responsibilities included selecting the venue, creating the event concept, organising entertainment, selecting design pieces, planning the evening’s schedule, marketing and promotion, and running the event on the night. And a special thank you to the design students who contributed their artwork to display on the night!
