The Diploma of Venues and Events Program develops skills in organising and running events, and in managing events venues.
 
It will enable graduates of the program to move into a job in the events industry on graduation.

  • Develop competency in event industry software Summit Event Management Pro.
  • Achieve a broad knowledge base in key business areas such as management, budgeting, communications and marketing.
  • Get practical events experience as part of your course.
  • Manage event projects and provide on-site event and venue management services.
  • Learn from experts with substantial events and venues experience and a real world focus.

Degree transfer

Successful completion of the Martin College Diploma of Venues and Events offers the following credit transfer options:

  • 1 year credit into the University of Southern Queensland Bachelor of Business
  • Credit transfer opportunities also available to Bond University >

Industry and jobs

Event management plays an increasingly important role in the marketing and communications mix for all businesses. The role of an Event Manager complements the marketing plan of an organisation as a means of advertising or building a brand. Event Managers work in consultation with public relations and marketing staff and creative and advertising teams to develop an event which showcases a special occasion or product.  Event management skills are in demand in the private and public sectors, and in community organisations such as sports clubs, schools and charitable organisations. Event Managers must be able to manage a venue for their event to ensure a successful activity. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include: Event Coordinator and Conference Coordinator.

Professional Recognition

Students of Martin College events studies, are eligible to apply for membership of the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) – an industry association for those in the marketing professions. http://www.ami.org.au

Awards

Graduates of the Martin College Venues and Events program receive the national award: CUE50403 Diploma of Venues and Events.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry to the Diploma of Venues and Events requires ONE of the following:

  • Successful completion of Australian high school or overseas equivalent, OR;
  • A Certificate IV in Business or related area, OR;
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience.
