Monday morning
I’m studying Computer Graphics which involves designing an annual report.  I’ve chosen Gap, a large American clothing store and one of my favourites!

I’m working on thumbnail mock-ups, an important part of the planning process before the real design work begins.

Monday morning
I’m using Adobe Illustrator.  All the industry standard software is available here and I move onto Photoshop to add bevelled, embossed and drop shadow effects.

Monday - Lunch
I try to keep healthy and have a salad.  Hyde Park is close by and is an ideal place to relax.

Tuesday morning
The teachers are always on hand to provide valuable feedback.  Working on a real project and learning to use the software at the same time is really useful.

Tuesday morning
Pressing on with my report... I’m using Illustrator to add graphs, then going back into InDesign to add tables and text.  After that I’m doing a test print in black and white to check and correct errors. Graphic designers need to have good attention to detail!

Tuesday afternoon
Return to classroom to assemble the A4 sized brochure. We have to submit hard and soft copies to prove the design works when it is made up into a book. This can be tedious but once it’s done it’s worth the effort.

Wednesday / Thursday
My timetable varies depending on what subjects I’m studying.  At the moment, I don’t have lessons on a Wednesday or Thursday but I come into college to work on my assignments anyway and pay a visit to the library.  It means that I’m close to the teachers and can ask for any help that I need.

Monday - Morning
As with any other week I like to rise nice and early at about 5.30am, head into the CBD to have a session at the gym. After my one hour work-out I walk to college, only a few streets away. I have 15 minutes spare before my class so I go straight to the computer room. to catch up with some classmates and to check my student email.  I really enjoy chatting with the international students.  It seems they love to make the most of what Brisbane has to offer.

Monday - Class
For the first session today I have “Consumer Behaviour,” with my facilitator Donna. The subject has been really insightful. Donna, like a lot of the other subject facilitators has been able to apply real life examples to the course content. After a coffee break I arrive back in class and the facilitator hands out the assessment task, which is very applicable to my current employment.  It's 10.45am I now have to head off to work.  Currently I'm working for a major telecommunications company in a corporate relations role. They have supported my study pursuits and have allowed me to take necessary time off to complete my course. I have been able to put back what I’ve learnt into my role, which has improved my performance.

Tuesday
I am completing my last subject of my course, which means I only have classes on two days, as opposed to four or five days. Nevertheless I still pass by the college en route for my morning coffee before work, often passing students I know and saying “G’day!”

Wednesday
As a class we all head over to the computer room to commence for our research for our assignment. I have convinced Vitor (my partner for this assignment) that while in Australia the product (part of the consumer behaviour assignment) we should review should be the Ford Falcon.  When he inquired as to why this should be the topic of our consumer behaviour review he was met with a half an hour review motorsport history in Australia.

Wednesday
As with most subjects I’m really enjoying what I am taking away.  I truly found that the learning tasks have provided real information for the real world.  After class, I take a trip to the library to do some research for my assignment.

Wednesday
I'm finished for the week.  As my classes have dropped back, due to the fact that I have nearly completed my course, so in turn I have Thursday and Friday off from college. Despite the fact that I am not in the college on these days I still maintain a study commitment. I like to use Thursday evening to complete class tasks and get on top of my assignments, leaving the weekend free!

Monday - Morning
My first class at Martin College begins at 8.15am.  We are studying Multimedia design, which is involves creating a digital version of my graphic design portfolio using Adobe Flash.  Our teacher is Toby, he knows everything about multimedia and website design; he is lead developer for a multimedia/web company.

Monday - Morning
Mid morning arrives and it’s time for a break – enough time for my classmates and I to have a small snack and go for a walk. Today I had to go to the post office and post a letter before my next class starts.

Monday – Afternoon
In the afternoon we have the Professional Practice class where we get the opportunity to put together our portfolios. The teacher owns his own Graphic Design business so he is very helpful when giving us advice on what we should include and how to arrange our portfolios.

Tuesday
A busy morning continuing the work from yesterday, which was to start designing newspaper and billboard ads for the opening of an extreme sports shop.  At lunch, my classmate Kathrine and I go for something to eat and some shopping before working on our portfolios in the afternoon.

Wednesday - Morning
Today I only have two classes - Multimedia Design in the morning and Professional Practice in the afternoon.  There is a cafe on the ground floor of the building which is a ideal place to visit during break time.

Wednesday – Afternoon
Our afternoon class involves thinking of a theme I can use to tie my portfolio together to make it look consistent.

Thursday
Today I have the same classes as yesterday.   In Toby’s class he is reminding us how to create working buttons and how to use motion tweening.  This is what we use to make objects on screen move. For lunch me and my class mates are going up to the common room and we are going to talk about each others portfolios to give each other advice before we continue working on our portfolio in the next class. After class today a few of my class mates and I are going out as we don’t have any classes tomorrow.
