Entry Requirements: Academic
Martin College offers flexible access to its courses. Students who do not have the academic qualifications indicated in the entry criteria may demonstrate, by way of interview, that they possess the skills and capability to succeed in the course applied for.
Diploma Course Applicants
Applicants will need to show they meet one of the following entry criteria:
- Australian Year 12 or equivalent; OR
- a Certificate IV; OR
- demonstrated skills acquired through work experience; OR
- demonstrate through an Admissions Interview, either in person or by phone, that they have the skills and capability to succeed in the course.
Entry to the Diploma of Graphic Design requires successful completion of a Certificate IV in Design OR other relevant qualification/s, OR; vocational experience in a range of work environments in design and presentation of a portfolio of work for assessment.
Certificate IV Course Applicants
Applicants will need to show they meet one of the following entry criteria:
- Australian Year 11 or equivalent; OR
- a Certificate III; OR
- demonstrated skills acquired through work experience; OR
- demonstrate through an Admissions Interview, either in person or by phone, that they have the skills and capability to succeed in the course.
Certificate III Course Applicants
Applicants will need to show they meet one of the following entry criteria:
- Australian Year 11 or equivalent; OR
- demonstrated skills acquired through work experience; OR
- demonstrate through an Admissions Interview, either in person or by phone, that they have the skills and capability to succeed in the course.
Applicants must be aged over 16 years old at the time of course commencement.
Special Requirements for International Applicants
International applicants seeking a packaged offer to a university program must demonstrate that they have completed high school in their home country.
International students should be aware that DIAC visa requirements mean that students from some countries need to demonstrate completion of high school for visa purposes.
International applicants whose first language is not English must show evidence of meeting the College’s published English language entry requirements. This cannot be done via an Admission Interview.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Have you already taken some courses somewhere else or have work experience which may be directly relevant to your course which may exempt you from some courses?
If yes you will need to:
- Read then complete the RPL form (PDF 279KB)
- Bring this completed form to campus with you on your first day of study with all the relevant information that includes the subjects you want to get credit for, transcripts and subject outlines for past courses.
- Hand the form to the course co-ordinator for review.
- It is important that you complete this form at the start of your studies as we can’t give you credit later in the course.
